The Monsters of Dirt family grew up around bikes; it’s all they have ever known. With all generations riding bikes, the family fell in love with the sport forever.
Our Grandfather had a very successful riding career over many years. He first started riding a motorcycle in the army; however during this time he broke his ankle in many different places. He spent 6 months in hospital in Shropshire, where he had his ankle pinned. As you can imagine he couldn’t wait to get back on a bike.
After this dreadful injury, Grandad Jim decided to take up trials riding. As a family they went all the way to the Scottish Six Days in the back of a minivan. Grandad would ride six days and Nanny would walk miles with the children just to see Grandad ride. As well as this Grandad then went on to become Southwest Centre Trials Champion in 1963.
As you can see from his face, he loved to ride. Nanny Anne would always support Grandad, and even at 6 weeks old took the children around to all biking events. Nanny Anne Below caught having a rip round below.
After growing up around bikes, Steve Taylor took up the sport following in his father’s footsteps. Above, a few pictures from back in the day.
